McDonald’s Parade on Main

The 2012 parade had over 60 vehicles and approximately 450 people marching or riding. We are confident that this year’s McDonald’s Parade on Main will be a tremendous success with your enthusiasm and interest.

Trophies for winning entries are explained below.  We encourage all entrants to have a German theme.

The parade will be held on Saturday, September 28th, starting at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Check in for the parade will be located at the St. Charles Foundry Arts Centre at the North end of Riverside Drive and Main Street at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers will be at the parking lot on the South side of the building to assist in your check in and position assignments.

ROUTE
This year’s route will take us directly from the assembly point down Main Street to a left on Boone’s Lick Rd. to Riverside Drive and disband back at the Foundry Arts Center. A total parade route of 1.9 miles.

JUDGING
Judging will take place at the Gazebo on the East side of South Main Street along the route. There will be a sixty second time limit on all performances. Performances exceeding the time limit will be stopped and asked to proceed in order to keep traffic moving. A First, Second, and Third place Trophy will be awarded in the German Heritage theme category. For all other categories there will be only be a First place trophy awarded. The other categories are: Best American Pride, Most Entertaining, Most Creative, and Best Band. Awards will be made on the Jaycee’s stage in Frontier Park about 12:30 pm., immediately after the parade. Everyone is invited to the awards ceremony.

DIRECTIONS
The most direct route to the assembly point is from I-70 exit No 229 to North on Fifth Street. From WB I-70 this is the first ramp immediately after crossing the Missouri River. Follow Fifth street North 1.3 miles (through several stoplights) to turn right (East on Route 94) onto Clark Street. Follow Clark Street 0.3 miles to the Foundry Arts Centre on your left.
